Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 26.07.2010
Online poker traffic rose fractionally this week, thanks mainly to rising traffic estimates in France. This marks the third straight weekly rise. Six of the top 10 tracked sites and networks gained this week.
Interest in the French online poker market continues to run high as Playtech announced its intention to launch a French version of its iPoker Network this week. With traffic estimates rising for some operators, the licensed French sites now account for 5% of the worldwide online poker market.
After surging ahead 12% last week, Full Tilt Poker fell back to previous levels this week. The top three US-friendly operators, PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Cereus Network, now have nearly identical annual growth rates of 9%-10%, well ahead of the industry average.
Top Of The Charts
The top four ranked sites kept their positions this week. This makes 4 consecutive weeks without a change in the top four spots as PartyPoker continues to hold onto third place.
Movers
Microgaming took back seventh place from IPN. Everest Poker moved into 11th place ahead of Entraction. Svenska Spel leapfrogged over Cake, Pacific and EverestPoker.fr to take 13th place. Pacific also moved ahead of EverestPoker.fr to hold onto 15th. Ongame.fr jumped up three spots on upwardly revised traffic estimates, passing Betfar, Bodog and Everleaf and landing in 19th. PartyPoker.fr also rose on increased estimates, moving into 23rd place ahead of Austria's win2day.
Year Over Year
With the inclusion of the new French sites, the worldwide online poker market is growing marginally. According to PokerScout's ACES indicator, online poker traffic is rising at an annual rate of 3%.

Re: Traffic Rangliste der Pokerrooms by Pokerscout
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update 29.11.2010
Online poker traffic slid another 0.7% this week, the third straight weekly drop. Seven of the top 10 sites and networks saw week-over-week declines.
This week saw the introduction of Market Segments on PokerScout. Market Segments help make sense of the increasingly complex online poker landscape by grouping and ranking competitors in various arenas, such as US-friendly sites or licensed French operators. The main PokerScout traffic report continues to rank all sites and networks across the world by size regardless of jurisdiction.
For many of the market leaders, the regulated markets of France and Italy represent an increasingly important part of their business. This can be seen by comparing the growth of the main (.com) player base with the growth of the group overall, with France and Italy included.
Site Change, 2009-2010
Main Site (.com) Group (incl. France & Italy)
PokerStars +3% +12%
Full Tilt Poker -18% -16%
PartyPoker -24% +2%
Everest Poker -64% -10%
Clearly Party and Everest rely heavily on the regulated European countries, while PokerStars is able to grow outside of those markets. Full Tilt Poker has not managed significant inroads in the regulated markets.
Top Of The Charts
The top four ranked sites kept their positions this week. This makes 22 consecutive weeks without a change in the top four spots. PartyPoker and iPoker Network are still locked in a close battle for third place.
Top 20 Movers
Svenska Spel moved up one notch to 18th, displacing Ongame.fr. iPoker.it joined the top 20 at 20th place, relegating International.it to 21st.
Year Over Year
Even with the opening of the French market, the total worldwide online poker market continues to stagnate. According to PokerScout's ACES indicator, online poker traffic is shrinking at an annual rate of 3%.

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 10.01.2011
The first full week of 2011 brought a welcome boost to online poker. Just like last year at this time, traffic soared 12% over the previous week. Nine of the top 10 sites and networks posted gains for the week, and all were double-digit percentage gains. Seven of the top 10 gained 15% or more on the week.
New Jersey residents waited nervously as the state legislature prepared to vote today on a bill regulating internet gambling gambling, including online poker. While New Jersey has only 9 million residents, the bill has generated considerable interest because it would represent the first outright legalization of online poker in the US. The vote had not yet occurred at the time of this writing.

The top four ranked sites kept their positions this week. This makes three consecutive weeks without a change in the top four spots.
Top 20 Movers
While there was no movement at the very top of the charts, there was plenty of shifting among the rest of the top 20. Cereus Network did not see the same gains as the rest of the market, and as a result, Cereus dropped two spots to ninth, while PeoplesNetwork.it and PokerStars.fr each moved up one notch to fill the void.
IPN rose one place to 10th. Entraction Network jumped two spots to 11th. Winamax.fr lost ground, dropping three notches to 13th. 888Poker finished the week in 14th place, two higher than last week. Ongame.it and EverestPoker.fr each lost a spot, ending in 15th and 16th places, respectively. Everest Poker and Merge Gaming Network both surged into the top 20, finishing in 19th and 20th places, while iPoker.it dropped out of the top 20 into the 21st spot.

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 04.04.2011
Online poker traffic fell 2.4% this week amid continued seasonal weakness as PokerStars player counts began returning to normal. Eight of the top 10 sites and networks lost ground for the week.
PokerStars saw its player counts return to earth this week, but not before sailing to stratospheric heights when the 60 billionth hand was dealt. The crucial moment came at 9:39 am Eastern last Tuesday, when 'Pogo650' won the milestone hand and walked away with over $100,000. Coincidentally, the site's cash game traffic peaked at just over 100,000 as well. Precise numbers can be hard to come by in such rapidly changing conditions, but PokerScout's monitoring system recorded a maximum of 100,364 cash game players before the 60 billionth hand was hit.
After the milestone hand passed, traffic dropped even more quickly than it had built up, falling nearly 75% in just 20 minutes. Daily average player counts since the event have been roughly in line with those seen before the promotion started.
888poker moved ahead of Entraction Network as recently predicted by CEO Gigi Levy. 888 has been enjoying great success with new software and, most recently, the launch of webcam poker tables. The network, which has seen its traffic increase more than 50% in the last year, now sits in 10th place in the worldwide rankings and seventh among .com sites and networks.
This week saw the launch of PokerScout's Twitter feed, featuring news and analysis of the online poker world. Follow PokerScout1 to stay abreast of the latest developments.

Winamax.fr traded places with IPN, with Winamax ending the week in 13th place and IPN in 15th. Svenska Spel fell two places to 21st, allowing International.it and Ongame.fr each to move up a notch.
Year Over Year
The lingering afterglow of the PokerStars 60 billion hand celebration kept the year-over-year comparison in positive territory this week. According to PokerScout's ACES indicator, online poker traffic (ex-Italy) is up 10% compared to the same week last year.
Year-over-year changes for some individual sites and networks are given below. Results are for the main (.com) sites and networks unless stated otherwise. Note that growth rates for some .com sites have been negatively affected by the shifting of French players to separate, French-only networks.

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 23.05.2011
Online poker traffic fell another 2.6% last week, thanks mainly to a steep drop at Full Tilt Poker. Six of the top 10 sites and networks saw week-over-week declines.
Full Tilt Poker traffic dropped 11% for the week. The reason is unknown, but continued delays in providing cashouts to US players cannot be helping the site's reputation with its European customer base. Players may be deciding to withdraw cash and wait to see how the site resolves the situation.
Cereus Network finally moved to block US players last week, as it had previously agreed with the Department of Justice. The move took a big bite out of what little traffic remained on the network. The latest estimates show Cereus player counts down 75% from last week and 96% since Black Friday.
Just six weeks ago, Cereus averaged more than 2000 cash games players. Now the network averages less than 100. To put this in perspective, Cereus has less than half the traffic of Yatahay Network, the small network which ranks fifth in the US and 32nd in the world.
Yatahay now faces its own difficulties, with its two best-known domains, TruePoker.com and DoylesRoom.com, allegedly seized by the US government. The latest crackdown, dubbed Blue Monday, originated from the US Attorney's office in Maryland, unlike many other actions instigated by the Southern District of New York. In the latest wave, two companies and three individuals were indicted and 11 bank accounts were seized. Ten online poker and gambling domains were also seized, although the confiscation has not yet taken effect across the entire Internet.
While the Blue Monday legal actions seem to be largely focused on sports betting, the point has surely been driven home that no company of any size is safe from US prosecution. Some of the larger US-facing poker operators, such as Merge Gaming Network and Bodog, have so far escaped legal action, but one has to wonder whether those operators will decide to pull out of the US market given the immense risks involved.
Top Of The Charts
The top four ranked sites kept their positions this week. This makes 19 consecutive weeks without a change in the top four spots.
Top 20 Movers
Merge Gaming Network moved up a notch from ninth to eighth place, surpassing PokerStars.fr. A scramble occurred just outside the top 10 as Winamax.fr dropped from 11th to 13th, Microgaming Network rose from 12th to 11th, IPN fell from 13th to 14th, and Entraction Network was buoyed from 14th to 12th. PartyPoker.fr slid from 16th place to 19th, allowing Svenska Spel to move up a notch from 17th to 16th while Bodog rose from 19th to 17th.
Year Over Year
The total worldwide online poker market has been shaken by the events of Black Friday and Blue Monday, but it remains largely intact. According to PokerScout's ACES indicator, online poker traffic (ex-Italy) has decreased by 17% in the last year.

Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 30.05.2011
Online poker traffic dropped another 3.4% last week amid continued seasonal weakness as the eyes of the poker world began turning toward Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker. Nine of the top 10 sites and networks showed a loss for the week.
Full Tilt Poker ranked among the week's biggest losers once again with a 7% decline in traffic. This marks the fourth consecutive weekly decrease and the third consecutive drop of more than 5%. In the last week, there have been signs, signals and rumors that Full Tilt is gradually getting its financial house in order, but US players continue to wait for definitive word on the fate of their funds.
The latest official word would seem to confirm speculation that the primary obstacle to paying back US customers is a simple lack of funds after the Black Friday seizures. The site says it is currently "raising capital to ensure that the US players are paid out in full as quickly as possible."

iPoker Network pulled ahead of PartyPoker, ending the week in third place for the first time since early January. The two rivals are still locked in a tight race, separated by less than 3%.

The iPoker/PartyPoker rivalry also played out in Italy, as iPoker.it moved ahead of PartyPoker.it. The two sites finished the week in 19th and 20th place, respectively.

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 11.07.2011
Online poker got a boost last week as players began returning home from the World Series of Poker. Total traffic climbed 3.4% for the week, with eight of the top 10 sites and networks seeing gains.
Also contributing to the increase, displaced European players are finding new poker homes after Full Tilt Poker's operating license was suspended on June 29. As reported here last week, Full Tilt's competitors are working overtime to lure affected players. Some have been more successful than others, but nearly all of the top competitors have benefited from Full Tilt's woes.
The table below shows how some of those competitors have fared since the Full Tilt Poker shutdown.
Site/Network Change since Full Tilt shutdown (players) Change %
PokerStars +3382 +17%
PartyPoker +1246 +35%
iPoker Network +835 +24%
888Poker +332 +20%
Microgaming Network +94 +7%
Merge Gaming Network +2 +0.1%
Entraction Network +20 +2%
International Poker Network (IPN) +146 +14%
Everest Poker +315 +46%
Cake Poker Network +261 +40%
Players lost by Full Tilt 9300
Net players gained by other sites 5000
Recovery % 54%
New World Order
With the collapse of Full Tilt Poker, the top of the charts has been shaken up in a way that has not happened since the UIGEA came into effect in 2006. PartyPoker, iPoker Network and Ongame Network, formerly in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, have each moved up one notch in the rankings. This marks PartyPoker's first return to the top two since 2007.
Other highlights from the last two weeks:
888Poker has made a dramatic move, climbing from eighth to fifth place
PokerStars.fr has moved up from ninth to seventh
Microgaming Network has risen from 11th to eighth
PeoplesNetwork.it has fallen like a stone from seventh place to 26th

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 24.10.2011
Online poker traffic fell 1.2% last week in a broad decline. Among the top 10 sites and networks, decliners overwhelmingly outnumbered advancers nine to one.
Merge Gaming Network continues to soar after reopening its doors to US players. Last week the network added more than 13% to the previous week's 7% gain, for a total traffic increase of 21%. Merge has now rejoined the top 10 sites and networks after an eight-week absence. The network's closest rivals in the US market, Bodog and Cake Poker Network, have not seen any significant change in traffic, indicating that Merge's growth comes from overall expansion of the (now greatly diminished) US market.
....
Top 20 Movers
PartyPoker held onto second place for the fifth consecutive week, but iPoker Network has recently been closing the gap and will overtake Party if the trend continues for another week.
Microgaming Network passed Winamax.fr to retake eighth place.
Merge Gaming Network flew past iPoker.it to end the week one notch higher in 11th, and has since rejoined the top 10.
PeoplesNetwork.it edged ahead of IPN and into 14th place.

Re: Traffic Rangliste - Wo sind die meisten Pokerspieler?
Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update vom 09.01.2012
Online poker surged ahead with a 9.8% traffic increase last week. The sharp upswing in traffic, predicted here a week ago, was expected for the first week of the new year. Among the top 10 sites and networks, advancers outnumbered decliners nine to one.
The only site to lose traffic among the top 10 was PokerStars.fr, which is suffering from a strike among high-volume players over its new rake calculation model and VIP system.
The strike appears to be having a significant impact, as PokerStars.fr fell 10% for the week while rivals Winamax.fr and PartyPoker.fr booked gains of 10% or more. The boycott may also be affecting sister site PokerStars.com, whose 5% weekly gain lagged substantially behind other top 10 sites.
The downswing also cost PokerStars.fr its long-held position as the largest licensed poker site in France. That title was taken over by Winamax.fr.
PartyPoker traffic ballooned 29%, significantly outpacing competitors' gains. The likely cause is a VIP rake race promotion which started on January 2 and runs until the end of the month. The stellar week propelled Party into second place ahead of rival iPoker Network, which couldn't keep up despite a 12% traffic increase.
Italian poker sites rose substantially for the second week in a row. The largest Italian sites have seen an increase of nearly 30% in two weeks. As a result, Italy's licensed poker rooms now account for more than 10% of the worldwide market.
Top 20 Movers
This was a tumultuous week, where a normally respectable 5% gain could cost a site several spots in the rankings, and even a double-digit increase might not be enough to hold one's ground.
PartyPoker took over second place from iPoker Network.
PokerStars.fr dropped from seventh to ninth, allowing Winamax.fr and Merge Gaming Network to move up one spot each into seventh and eighth, respectively.
PeoplesNetwork.it rose from 14th to 11th place.
iPoker.it slid from 11th to 12th.
International.it climbed from 15th to 13th.
Entraction Network moved up from 17th to 14th.
Bodog and Svenska Spel each fell three spots, landing in 15th and 16th, respectively.
PartyPoker.fr advanced from 19th to 17th.
Everest Poker declined from 18th to 16th.
IPN gained a spot, rising to 19th.
EverestPoker.fr fell from 18th to 20th.
Year Over Year
The total worldwide online poker market remains under pressure from Black Friday and a global stagnation in poker's popularity. According to PokerScout's ACES indicator, online poker traffic (ex-Italy) has decreased by 31% in the last year.
Year-over-year changes for some individual sites and networks are given below. Results are for the main (.com) sites and networks unless stated otherwise.
