Fold Equity — Why Aggressiveness Makes Mathematical Sense - A mathematical look at playing A-K in no-limit hold’em
by Matt Matros
With hands that want to reach a showdown, like A-K preflop, or a straight-flush draw with two cards to come, it’s important to get money into the pot as soon as possible. The more money there is in the pot, the harder it is to fold, and the more likely you are to get your showdown. So, don’t be one of those passive A-K players. Learn to love the words, "I’m all in."

The value of suits
By Phil Gordon
The suits of the cards aren't nearly as important as the ranks of the cards. Overestimating the value of being suited is a common weakness among novice and amateur players.

The Great Equalizer
The all-in bet
by Mike Sexton
On one of the breaks, I went up to Stuey and congratulated him on how well he was playing. I then said to him, “I can’t believe those guys allow you to pick up pot after pot. I’m surprised that they call your raises and try to play with you. Why don’t they just come over the top and move all in on you?” He looked me right in the eye and said, “Sexton, if you ever tell anyone that, I’ll kill you.”

Eine Seite, die man unbedingt kennen und bei der Auswahl seiner Starthände berücksichtigen sollte:
http://www.pokerroom.com/main/page/game ... s/expValue

Heads Up Poker Strategy
Heads-up poker teaches you to always raise with those Aces, Kings, Face/kicker, mid-high suited connectors and pocket pairs because they'll reap long term value. It makes you accustomed to raising for value and playing out on a flop whether or not the cards hit or not.

Theorem of Blind Stealing
by MJ
As many solid players know as well, the majority of the chips are going to be won during the late game phase, where blind stealing and coin flips is pretty much the norm.

A good side-effect that may occur from raising over 10BB pre-flop however, is that your opponent is most likely going to tighten his calling requirements in order to call your raise. This would mean that most players will probably go up in level, so a semi-tight player would only call tight hands, and a tight player would only call very-tight hands. The effect of this of course, is that it improves your folding equity and thus, your overall equity as well.

The only real defense that you can mount, is reducing the amount of total equity that the attacker can obtain, by widening your push hands substantially to defend against steals. If you increased your range of hands to a set such as all pocket pairs, Ace/x, King/x, Queen/7+, Jack/7+ and Ten/7+ - you can effectively reduce your attacker's total equity to 0.4BB. This would be the equivalent of letting them keep their SB and you keeping your BB.
