FTOPS XVII – Schwungvoller Auftakt mit amerikanischem Sieg
By Rainer Vollmar, Donnerstag. 05. August 2010

FTOPS XVII: Brandon Adams Wins One for the Red Pros
Every FTOPS, it seems like at least a couple of Red Pros find their way to a final table. So far this FTOPS, we’ve seen both Jeff Madsen and Chris Ferguson make it to a final table, only to come up short of the jersey. While it may be almost commonplace for a Red Pro to final table an FTOPS event, winning them has been another story altogether, with only five Red Pros in history winning events prior to the start of FTOPS XVII.
Well, now we can up that number to six. Brandon Adams captured his first FTOPS victory and another win for the Red Pros by taking down Event #14, a Limit Omaha Hi tournament, on Monday. Adams bested a final table that included WSOP bracelet winner Andrew “Browndog19” Brown to earn the win as well as $39,790.
Monday saw two other players enter the winner’s circle as well. Chessazhole1 won the latest Rush Poker tournament, this one a $300 PLO event, netting himself over $60,000. The biggest payout of the series so far was awarded on Monday as well. The $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Event #16 drew 1,370 players and generated a prize pool of $1.37 million.
The monstrous prize pool resulted in a monstrous first place prize of $301,000 and six-figure payouts for the top four finishers. The big winner was “yahoo33”, who bested Bjorn “kleath” Kleathersson to claim the outright victory. Kleathersson earned just over $191,000 for his second place finish.
Tuesday’s FTOPS action includes a little 6-handed HA, a No Limit Hold’em Turbo event and an evening Triple Shootout. There will be at least $850,000 in prize money across the three tournaments, but considering only two events have come up short on their guarantees so far, there will likely be even more money on the line.
Here are the results from Monday’s FTOPS events:
FTOPS Event #14: $200 + $16 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo
Prize Pool: $173,000
Entrants: 865
Places paid: 90
