October FTP High Stakes Update: Dwan on Top
Tom "durrrr" Dwan has continued his rollercoaster of a year in October, banking an estimated $1.32 million dollars over 6,263 tracked hands.
Dwan has been all over the place in 2009. He got off to a horrendous start in 2009, dropping millions of dollars to start the year. "durrrr" then battled back to breakeven status, only to drop millions of dollars once again.
With his October upswing, Dwan has battled back once again, and currently sits with a profit of $215k on Full Tilt Poker for the year. Given how much he was down earlier in the year, I'm sure that Dwan isn't too disappointed with a profit of over $200k.
Phil Ivey continues to rev up for the upcoming World Series of Poker main event final table, and is currently up nearly $1.2 million dollars on Full Tilt in October over 5,241 tracked hands. Ivey got off to a slow start in 2009 on Full Tilt Poker as well, but has since come roaring back (surprise, surprise), and is currently one of the biggest winners on the site for the year.
Richard Ashby (formerly known as "CHUFTY"), Patrik Antonius and Ashton "theASHMAN103" Griffin currently round out the list of the top five most profitable players on FTP in June. Ashby has won about $950k so far this month, while Antonius and "theASHMAN103" are both up over $500k.
Brian Townsend (+446k) has returned to the high stakes games as of late, and is doing pretty well for himself this month.
--
David Benyamine has posted the biggest loss so far this month, having dropped over $1.5 million dollars over 11,362 tracked hands.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, after running pretty well through the first nine months of 2009, has dropped approximately $1.07 million dollars over 5,829 tracked hands so far this month. Even with this loss, "Ziigmund" is still up over $1.7 million dollars on the year.
"Slick Puppy" (-816k), David Oppenheim (-802k) and Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond (-477k) round out the list of the top five biggest losers in October on FTP.

Patrik Antonius Wins $879,000 Pot Against "Isildur1"
Patrik Antonius has just won the largest ever online cash game pot.
The $879k pot obliterates the old record that was held by Di "Urindanger" Dang, who managed a win a $724k pot against Tom "durrrr" Dwan more than a year ago. That pot occurred in an all-in confrontation between Dang and Dwan, where Dang held pocket Aces and Dwan held pocket Kings. Obviously the Aces held, and Dang scooped the $724k pot.
The record-setting hand between "Isildur1" and Antonius occurred during a multi-table $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha session.
Prior to the hand, "Isildur1" had around $450k in his stack, while Antonius had around $440k.
"Isildur1" had the button and raised to $3,000. Antonius called.
The flop came 5h-7h-Qs.
Antonius checked. "Isildur1" bet $5,000. Antonius raised to $21,000, and "Isildur1" called.
The turn was the Ad.
Antonius led out with a bet of $48,000. "Isildur1" raised to $192,000. Antonius pushed all-in, and "Isildur1" called after a few moments.
"Isildur1" showed:
Qd-10h-Ks-As
Antonius showed:
6h-Ah-Qc-9s
Both players had two pair, Aces and Queens. "Isildur1" had a gutshot straight draw as well, while Antonius had the nut flush draw (hearts), as well as a gutshot straight draw of his own.
The river brought the 8d, giving Antonius a nine-high straight and the massive $879k pot.

Antonius Wins $1.35 Million Dollar Pot Against "Isildur1"
Patrik Antonius Wins $1.35 Million Dollar Pot Against "Isildur1"
Patrik Antonius just won the largest ever pot in online poker history a few minutes ago - a $1,356,946.50 monster against "Isildur1" on Full Tilt Poker.
This pot didn't just beat the previous record for the largest ever online poker cash game pot - it obliterated it.
Prior to the epic hand taking place, "Isildur1" had about $678k in his stack, while Antonius had about $1.26 million. The game was $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha.
"Isildur1" had the button and raised to $3,000. Antonius stuck in a re-raise, and the two were soon involved in a pre-flop raising war. By the time that the two players saw a flop, there was already over $160k in the pot.
The flop came:
4s-5c-2h
Antonius led out with a bet of $91,000. "Isildur1" re-raised to $435,000, Antonius made it $779,000, and "Isildur1" called all-in.
Antonius showed:
Ah-3s-Ks-Kh for a five-high straight, a pair of Kings and two back-door flush draws.
"Isildur1" showed:
6d-9s-7d-8h for a wrap straight draw.
The turn brought the 5h, moving Antonius even further ahead in the hand.
The river brought the 9c, and Antonius was shipped the massive $1.35 million dollar pot with his five-high straight.
--
As if that wasn't enough, Antonius won an $800k pot a short time later.
The board read 4h-9d-6h-6c when the two players got the rest of their stacks into the middle of the table.
"Isildur1" showed Ad-Kc-2c-Kd for Kings and Sixes, while Antonius showed 9h-8s-7d-10h for Nines and Sixes, as well as an open-ended straight draw.
The river brought the 8c, giving Antonius the ten-high straight and the $810k pot.
--
Patrik Antonius is currently lording over a $2.4 million dollar stack right now. In addition, he also has two $800k+ stacks on two other tables.
Not only that, but "Isildur1" is also playing Phil Ivey at the same time, and Ivey currently has a $1.3 million dollar stack, as well as a $706k stack. Sick.
According to Highstakesdb.com, Patrik Antonius is currently up $2.3 million on the day, while Phil Ivey is up $1.02 million.
"Isildur1", according to the site, is down about $2.6 million dollars.
Unbelievable. Are Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey going to end the incredible run of "Isildur1" today?

Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey Dominate High Stakes Full Tilt Poker Cash Games in 2009
2009 is a fading memory, and we can now start to figure out the biggest winners and losers on Full Tilt Poker for the year.
Patrik Antonius had the best year of anyone in 2009, banking nearly $9 million dollars over a total of 185,440 tracked hands. Antonius was steady and consistent all year, but really saw his bankroll surge during a couple of high-profile battles with "Isildur1".
Antonius also won the largest pot of the year on Full Tilt Poker, a $1.35 million dollar monster that came against "Isildur1".
Phil Ivey also had a tremendous year on FTP in 2009, making himself approximately $6.34 million dollars over 99,544 tracked hands. Ivey was another one of the players who benefited immensely from the appearance of "Isildur1" on the site.
Brian Hastings (+$4.7 million), "theASHMAN103" (+$3.64 million) and Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies (+$3.2 million) rounded out the list of the top five most profitable cash game players on Full Tilt Poker in 2009.
Here is the rest of the top 10:
6. "trex313", +$2.64 million
7. Brian Townsend, +$2.4 million
8. "howisitfeellike", +$2.23 million
9. Cole South, +$2.1 million
10. Mark Vos, +$2.1 million
Und nun zu den Verlierern
Gus Hansen, thanks to a late-year surge by Tom "durrrr" Dwan, finished 2009 as the biggest loser on Full Tilt Poker.
"The Great Dane" dropped a total of $5.57 million dollars over 256,418 tracked hands. Hansen just couldn't get anything going in 2009 on FTP, watching his bankroll slowly sink like a stone throughout the year on the site.
Tom "durrrr" Dwan finished the year with a loss of $4.34 million dollars over 281,660 tracked hands.
Dwan rebounded in December, winning over $2 million dollars - it will be interesting to see how he does in the early parts of 2010.
The list of the top five biggest losers on Full Tilt Poker in 2009 was rounded out by:
"LarsLuzak" (-$4.09 million dollars)
David Benyamine (-$2.2 million dollars)
"Isildur1" (-$2.2 million dollars)
All in all, this was easily the most exciting year in the history of high stakes cash games on Full Tilt Poker.
There was an incredible amount of action, thanks in large part to the appearance of players such as "martonas" and "Isildur1".
Let's hope for more of the same in 2010.

Cole South Up Over a Million Dollars on Full Tilt Poker to Start February
Cole South has continued his strong start to 2010 so far this month, adding another $1 million+ to his already impressive profit total for the year.
After the first six days of February, Cole South has made $1,005,720 over a total of 2,989 tracked hands.
Add this to his impressive January profits, and South is now up over $2.5 million for the year over 25,469 tracked hands.
Gus Hansen, who had an absolutely terrible year on Full Tilt Poker in 2009, has made a total of $422,397 in February over 8,420 tracked hands. For the year, Hansen is now up a total of $2.16 million dollars over 37,504 tracked hands. After seemingly not winning a hand for all of 2009 on FTP, Gus has temporarily reversed his fortunes. It will be interesting to see how he does for the rest of the year.
Alexander "PostflopAction" Kostritsyn is currently up just under $700k in February so far, bringing his 2010 profit totals on FTP up to $1.7 million dollars.
Other players who have had a strong start to the month on Full Tilt Poker include:
"ClockWyze" +302k
"Slick Puppy" +297k
"FakeSky" +291k
Phil Ivey is the eighth most profitable player on the site so far this month (+268k), despite having only played 700 hands.
--
Brian Townsend has lost more money than anyone else on Full Tilt Poker to start the month of February, dropping just over $1 million over 3,715 tracked hands.
Townsend has lost a total of $1.31 million dollars in 2010, meaning that he has given back a good percentage of his 2009 profits (+$2.4 million) so far this year.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies has lost a total of $944k over 2,890 hands so far in February. Despite this sizable loss, "Ziigmund" is still up about $160k in 2010 on Full Tilt.
Other players who have gotten off to a slow start in 2010 include:
"rumprammer" -354k
Patrik Antonius -304k
Jani Vilmunen -255k
Patrik Antonius, after making an absolute fortune on Full Tilt in 2009, has dropped just over $2.05 million on the site to start 2010.
"Isildur1" has also re-appeared on Full Tilt Poker in February, dropping about $69k over 3,048 tracked hands.

Tom Dwan Now Up $6.7 Million on Full Tilt Poker in 2010
Tom Dwan Now Up $6.7 Million on Full Tilt Poker in 2010
It was less than six months ago when "Isildur1" was putting the boots to Tom "durrrr" Dwan on Full Tilt Poker.
From January 1st 2009 to November 30th 2009, Tom Dwan suffered such a beat down on Full Tilt Poker that many wondered if his days of online cash game dominance were coming to an end. After all, "durrrr" lost nearly $7 million on Full Tilt in the first 11 months of 2009 - just how deep was his bankroll? Would he be able to turn things around, or was this particular downswing just too much to overcome?
In order to get back on track, "durrrr" temporarily dropped down to $25/$50 and started grinding. The results came quickly, as Dwan was able to bank nearly $2.5 million in total profits in December over a total of 34,674 hands.
Dwan's upswing poured over into the new year as he continued to put in heavy volume on Full Tilt. After a slight downtick in January, "durrrr" turned it on in February, banking a total of $1 million over 49,742 tracked hands.
March and April have also been kind to Dwan, and as it stands right now, he has a total profit of $6.7 million in 2010 through April 23rd (according to HighStakesDB.com). To illustrate just how hot Dwan has been - his $6.7 million in profits in 2010 is more than the next four most profitable players combined ("PostFlopAction", "Urindanger", "theASHMAN103" and "NEKOTYAN").
Since the beginning of December, Dwan's results are even more ridiculous on Full Tilt Poker. From Dec 1/09 to April 23/10, Dwan has made a total of $9.15 million over a total of 188,399 tracked hands. "durrrr", after seemingly being on the ropes in late November, has rallied to make nearly $10 million in less than five months (and that doesn't include any live appearances). That's a pretty incredible accomplishment.
There is no telling where Dwan's bankroll goes from here, but one thing is certain - his upswing over the past five months has already reached legendary status.

"durrrr", after seemingly being on the ropes in late November, has rallied to make nearly $10 million in less than five months (and that doesn't include any live appearances). That's a pretty incredible accomplishment.
There is no telling where Dwan's bankroll goes from here, but one thing is certain - his upswing over the past five months has already reached legendary status.

durrrr Up $911k in August
Gerade erst angefangen der Monat:
durrrr Up $911k in August
Tom “durrrr’ Dwan, fresh off a summer of huge WSOP bracelet bets, is back to his day job of crushing high stakes games on Full Tilt Poker.
Thanks to large sessions against Patrik Antonius and Rob "Vaga_Lion" Akery, Dwan is officially red hot and has earned $911,148 in the first six days of August.
Dwan can also lay claim to winning the biggest pot in August - an epic $200k PLO hand against Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies.
In the hand Dwan flopped two-pair but Ziigmund put some serious pressure on him by shoving for $73,000 with a single pair. Dwan found the call and after bricks on the turn and river saw the $200k pot shipped his way.
The Team Full Tilt Pro is now up to $3.9 million in 2010 and, thanks to a $2 million lead, it's looking likely he'll win the durrrr Challenge as well and add $500,000 to his bankroll at some point.
Dwan isn't the only player who has had a blisteringly hot August. The always consistent Phil Ivey is right behind Dwan with $569k while Jared "Harrington25" Bleznik is up $353,071.
On the other hand there are a group of players who have been ice cold to start the month of August.
Luukie21, who is rumored to be a well-known Dutch player, has had a downright catastrophic week losing $678,939.
Gus Hansen had a great start to 2010, charging to a $2 million profit, lost $606,287 this week and is now down $55,000 for the year.
Finally Sahamies, who lost that $200k pot to durrrr, is down $590,079 in August and has written on his blog that he's going to skip the rest of the month.
Below are some of the biggest pots over the last week. For more hand replays head to our online poker stats page.

Re: Die Stars der Onlinepoker-Scene
Und es geht weiter:
Durrrr is already up $1,7M in August
August 10, 2010
Tom "durrrr" Dwan has been running great in August at Full Tilt Poker, and his winnings for the month are already almost $1,7M. Most of his winning has came from Pot-Limit Omaha, where he has earned over $1,4 million.
Let's hope this win will now give a boost to Dwan and Daniel "jungleman12" Cates to start the challenge soon.
Other interesting names who have also made good profits are: Phil Ivey (+$758K), Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond (+$566K), Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick (+433K), Niki Jedlicka (+$379K) and jungleman12 (+$224K).

Re: Die Stars der Onlinepoker-Scene
Andere spielen weniger glücklich im August:
Dwan Drops $225k
Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan continue to wage war on the Full Tilt high stakes tables this week but with very different results.
After winning nearly $400k on Sunday, disaster struck durrrr last night when he played a prolonged heads-up battle against unidentified online player O Fortuna PLS.
The game was $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold'em and Dwan sat for three hours, played 585 hands and got absolutely wrecked by O Fortuna PLS.
Although the suckouts aren't quite as sick in Limit Hold'em, it was obvious that O Fortuna PLS did get some help from the cards
In one $20k pot, O Fortuna PLS rivered trip fives with K♣ 5♠ in the hole. In another pot that exceeded $20k O Fortuna PLS hit a three-outer to make a better two-pair than Dwan.
....
In total Ivey finished up $392,977, which continues the exceptional summer he's been having. If Ivey keeps up this pace he could potentially pass durrrr on the 2010 cash game earnings leaderboard.

Ivey verliert $786,935
Ivey Derailed for $786,935
Phil Ivey has been crushing the high stakes online games since the WSOP ended but finally suffered a massive setback this weekend.
The celebrated Team Full Tilt Pro was up $1.6 million in August, prior to this weekend, and decided to get involved in some huge games against Clockwyze, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, Sam "URnotINdanger2" Palmer, Cole South and Hac "trex313" Dang.
It didn't matter whether Ivey was playing $200/$400 Cap PLO Six-Max, Heads-up or $500/$1,000 Cap No-Limit Hold'em he was losing.
After 2,832 hands over two days, Ivey found himself down a stunning $785k. The online tables will be watched closely this week to see if Ivey attempts to recoup his losses or takes a break.

Second "durrrr Challenge" Set To Get Underway Soon
Tom "durrrr" Dwan vs Daniel "jungleman12" Cates Challenge To Start Soon
The second "durrrr Challenge" (Tom "durrrr" Dwan vs Daniel "jungleman12" Cates) is set to get underway over the next couple of days.
The first "durrrr Challenge" between Dwan and Patrik Antonius has not been completed as of yet, but given how rarely the two play, I don't think that "durrrr" will have any troubles handling two challenges at once.
The second "durrrr Challenge" became official yesterday after this chat occurred between the two participants on FTP:
durrrr: did u send ivey $$ yet?
jungleman12: not yet
jungleman12: ill send now
jungleman12: how soon is soon?
durrrr: read ur phone...
jungleman12: ah i see

durrrr: but if they escrow....
durrrr: haha ok
durrrr: lmk if u wanna play if not we'll start in a few days
durrrr: gl n stuff
jungleman12: u2
--
In case you are wondering why Phil Ivey's name is being mentioned here - he is acting as escrow and will hold the money ($500k from "jungleman12", $1.5 million from "durrrr") until the challenge has been completed.

High Stakes Corner: Ilari Sahamies rupft 'Garfield25'
High Stakes Corner: Ilari Sahamies rupft 'Garfield25'
